BLAMED: An Established Fiction

Each culture seems to have one thing in common: a well-known tale in which a girl does something horrible, or is the victim of something horrible, and she ruins everything and everyone around her. From Eve and Pandora to Lilith and La Llorona, Blamed brings the women to life in an intoxicating mix of live music, dance, and story.
EDGAR ALLAN
The Coldharts present this dark musical comedy inspired by the childhood and short stories of Edgar Allan Poe. Edgar Allan follows 11-year-old Poe in his first year at Manor House School, as he seeks to gain academic ascendancy over the student body. All goes according to plan until another boy named Edgar Allan arrives in class, which complicates his schemes of dominance. Edgar Allan is a darkly comedic and musical riff on the obsessions, mania, and insanity that haunted the life and work of America's first professional writer.

The multi-talented performers of the hybrid arts ensemble The Fourth Wall combine music, theater, and dance for a virtual global tour. Fruit Flies Like a Banana is a high-octane variety hour where each piece is inspired by a different locale, and you choose the itinerary! Each night the audience selects the show order by picking cards from a deck, and even determines parameters for some pieces created on the spot.

JOSEPHINE: A Burlesque Cabaret Dream Play
This solo show explores the life of international superstar Josephine Baker through theater, song, and burlesque. Born in St. Louis in 1906, Josephine Baker achieved only moderate success in the United States, but became an international superstar after moving to France in the early 20s. Her adopted country gave her the opportunity to live freely without the racial oppression of her home nation, though she never stopped yearning for acceptance in America. Written for and performed by Tymisha Harris, Josephine: A Burlesque Cabaret Dream Play won "Best Show" and "Outstanding Solo Performance" at the 2016 San Diego Fringe Festival and "Production of the Year" at last fall's Fringe Encore Series at the Soho Playhouse.
JUST LIKE LIFE

In a whitewashed room with a white fridge, white sink, white porcelain toilet center stage and white everything else; Hey-Zeus frantically scrubs the white tiled floor with his toothbrush as his doting Quote Mamma watches. She tells us, "To live in clean is to live in perpetual orgasms." Their lives are a cycle of repetitions and restated experience echoing impotent frustration and mindless obliviousness. So far, we have shades of Godot, No Exit and Old Dad, Poor Dad.... Hey-Zeus sits on the toilet as Quote Mamma feeds him Jello and wisdom.
KAFKA AND SON
Adapted from a letter Kafka wrote to his dad, this solo drama is a blistering dissection of domestic authority, and a visit with one of the architects of the modern psyche. At the age of 36, Franz Kafka was still living at home, a petty bureaucrat, a failed artist, a timid Jewish son. Ruling and ruining his life was his overbearing father, Hermann. What to do? Kafka wrote a 50-page letter to his dad in which he reveals deep connections between his life and his fiction.
MACBETH MUET
This textless, two-actor adaptation of Shakespeare's classic draws on silent cinema and Grand Guignol traditions. Shakespeare's murderous couple cordially invite you to witness a hyper-speed rendition of their gruesome story, told entirely without words. Kings will die, nature itself will be twisted, and funny silent-film gestures will be made.

A powerful, brutal and surprisingly contemporary expose of a charming manipulator and sociopathic narcissist.
